A culture and unique way of doing business has developed here over the years.
Thirty years ago Art Connolly set out to redefine the way garden centers work. Instead of just selling plants and trees we are educating and informing. In fact, many times we find ourselves being "un-sales" people simply by asking the right questions.
Before a customer buys something from our nursery we ask them for all the pertinant information. Where is the tree being planted? What are the lighting issues? Will you have sufficent irrigation? With that information in hand, many times we have to direct the customer to a different plant or even lose a sale. We'd rather lose the sale, then have a dead tree and an unhappy customer.
On any given day at our garden center we will be diagnosing lawn diseases, giving lessons on correct planting methods, or teaching a child how to start their first garden. The Aspatuck difference is to put customers first and sales second. This has been the key to our success.
